The German Shorthaired Pointer is indeed a rare find. Wrapped up in one package is a staunchly pointing bird dog, a keen-nosed trailer, a natural retriever, an intelligent family and companion dog. He was bred to hunt both fur and foul and is especially admired for his temperament and trainability. The typical Shorthair is outgoing, but not aggressive, eager to please and is a athlete with lots of natural exuberance.

Our diverse membership includes those involved in field trials, dog shows, obedience trials, tracking, breeding, therapy dogs and those who just love their dogs as soul mates and family companions.

To gather more information on the breed standard, check out the web sites for the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America and the American Kennel Club.

We welcome anyone interested in promoting the German Shorthaired Pointer as well as all Pointing Breeds to our club.
